Bride2b asked:

I have two sets of amethyst crystal goblets (very different styles), and would like to start adding to my small collection, but I don’t know what I’m looking for. I don’t know the different kinds of goblets or what else should be included in a set. Thanks!

Fact About Crystal Meth Addiction

Thursday, November 27th, 2008
Berlin Flores asked:

Meth is the abbreviation of methamphetamine or methylamphetamine. It is also known as crystal meth. Its street names are ice and cristy. Meth is a sympathomimetic and a psychostimulant substance. Some of its isomers, such as unmethylated amphetamine, are prescribed as medications for hyperactivity disorder. Crystal meth, which is an illegal and an addictive substance, directly affects the central nervous system. When administered, crystal meth brings toxins to the human body. According to statistical studies, crystal meth is very addictive that about 42% of first timers feel the need to try it again while approximately 84% of second time users feel the need to take it over and over again that it turns into an addiction. Most of the first time crystal meth users are unaware of the harmful effects it may cause to the human body. They simply like using meth because it causes them to “feel wonderful.”

Crystal meth is classified under the D-type methamphetamine class accompanied by GIB, JIB, sister, and ice. The following are a few facts regarding D-type methamphetamine:

(1) This type of meths is generally crystalline in structure and is mostly transparent and sparkly in appearance. They look like sugar cubes.

(2) D-methamphetamine is smoked using single-chambered glass pipes or cracked light bulbs.

(3) When D-methamphetamine is warmed up by using small fires or common lighters, it is likely to become vapor soon after forming a liquid puddle.

(4) This variety of methamphetamine starts to react somewhat impulsively, within 3 to 5 seconds, when administered. Within a short period of time, D-methamphetamines affect the central nervous system. Its side-effects, which are easily noticed, typically last for approximately 8 to 24 hours.

There is another type of methamphetamine existing these days and it goes by the name L-type meth. Several examples of this kind of meths are smack, speed, crank, yellow, and grit.

THE EFFECTS OF CRYSTAL METH:

Crystal meth affects the body both mentally and physiologically. The following are the several side-effects of crystal meth:

Psychological Effects:

(1) The delirious side-effects of crystal meth are very much comparable to that of cocaine.

(2) Crystal meth triggers psychological complications a lot faster than the other varieties of drugs. The psychological effects of crystal meth last for around 8 to 24 hours.

(3) Because the side-effects of the crystal meth last for a longer period of time, first time users become even more inclined to use the substance yet again.

(4) Usually, users of crystal meth will most likely use the substance more often.

(5) Because crystal meth causes the users to stay wide awake for a long period of time, which is about 8 to 24 hours, the users are most likely to sleep for a long time after that in order to make up for the time they wasted because of staying up a whole lot longer. The amount of time spent by the crystal meth user for resting or sleeping is usually the same as the time he spent for being wide awake.

(6) Crystal meth dependent people sometimes feel chemically-induced schizophrenia and toxic psychosis.

Physiological Effects:

(1) Crystal meth users often experience a few physical complications such as skin rashes, itching, body sores, JIB sores, and cracked lips.

(2) Speed bumps become noticeable the instant the harmful substances penetrate the crystal meth user’s system.

(3) Some of the symptoms of crystal meth addiction include mental confusion, incapability to focus on the goals, hyper alertness, muscle spasms and muscle cramps.

(4) The effects of crystal meth are also visible through the crystal meth user’s eyes. The crystal meth user’s pupils become quite dilated and his eye movement becomes very rapid.

(5) A persistent ingestion of crystal meth leads to lightheadedness, blurred vision, and lack of coordination.

(6) An addiction to crystal meth may also cause health disorders such as liver failure, lung failure, kidney failure, cerebral toxicity, and a handful of serious heart-associated diseases such as congestive heart failure and myocardial infarction.

(7) Another possible effect of using crystal meth, even in trace amounts, is brain injury.

(8) Aside from the above mentioned physiological effects and probable health problems, crystal meth addiction may also cause the death of the user.

An addiction to crystal meth is totally curable when the proper treatments are performed. There are some residential and non-residential addiction treatment programs available for crystal meth users who are willing to be treated. These treatment services also include counseling. The treatment services include detoxifying the human body while the counseling proper involve encouraging the crystal meth user to give up his addiction. It is really important for the crystal meth user to get an adequate amount of love and support from his family, his peers, and his fellowmen so that he can restore his health a little sooner.

How and Why Healing Crystals and Colour Therapy Work Perfectly Together

Thursday, November 27th, 2008
Groshan Fabiola asked:

Each colour contains qualities and strengths that are amplified by the power of the crystal. Colours are absorbed through the skin and the optic nerves. Psychically they are assimilated into the human energy field via the seven chakras, and from there they go to wherever specific colour strengths are needed in the body or mind.

When using Healing Crystals we recommend using a pair of crystals, one to draw out pain or remove blockages and one to infuse the system with healing light. You can any shape that is comfortable. The following pairs are our recommended combinations:

Clear Quartz and Amethyst are all-purpose Healing Crystals, excellent for routine cleansing and energising.

Turquoise and Rose Quartz help an overloaded system or a person who is under pressure.

Amber and Blue Coral/Blue Chalcedony are deep Healing Crystals and restore natural immunity.

Purple Fluorite and Nephrite Jade are for Healing over a long period, chronic conditions or those difficult to diagnose and treat.

Red Jasper and Celestine/Angelite are useful to balance, strengthen and harmonise body and mind.

Tiger’s Eye and Banded Agate soothe and empower very nervous or emotional patients or those in crisis.

Blue Lace Agate and Pink Mangano Calcite are excellent for Healing the very young, the very old or those extremely ill or in intense pain.

Use each pair by holding the more active Healing Crystal (the first listed) in your power hand (the one you write with) and the other in your receptive hand. Simultaneously move your Healing Crystal clockwise and the receptive crystal anticlockwise over any pain or discomfort. Work two inches away from the body, slowly spiralling up and down, constantly moving the Healing Crystals. You may find that Healing words emerge spontaneously. The Healing Crystals may stop over a chakra energy centre and move much faster as they balance or unblock it. When you find yourself slowing, the healing is complete.

Using Divination can help you to determine the right course of action in a particular situation. In modern Divination we consult the god or goddess within, the wise part of ourselves that is not bound by the limitations of time. This part of ourselves can reach the universal store of knowledge, so that we are not bound by our conscious mind and our preferred method is to use Healing Crystals for Colour Therapy.

The selection occurs through the process of psychokinetic, the ability of the mind to move matter, in this case our hand, to select one Colour Therapy Crystal rather than another so that it answers our questions. Healing Crystals are a very powerful form of Colour Therapy, because not only do the Colours and the individual crystal type have certain core meanings, but also when we hold the crystal we have selected unconsciously, information from it floods our minds. This knowledge is transmitted through our fingertips in the form of words, sensations of heat or cold, feelings of reassurance or sudden doubt about a planned course of action, as well as rich visual images in our mind.

You can use as few as eleven Healing Crystals, one for each of the main Colour Therapy colours: White, Purple, Blue (light or dark), Green, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Red, Brown, Grey and Black. Use crystals of similar size, shape and smoothness; round or oval tumbled stones about the size of a medium coin are ideal. Keep the crystals for Colour Therapy in a drawstring bag (or place them in this bag prior to divination).

Crystal Jewellery or Crystal Maze

Sunday, November 16th, 2008
Paul Shane asked:

When you hear the word ‘crystal’ what does it remind you? It reminds me of the popular old reality game show of our times – ‘crystal maze’! But when my wife hears the word ‘crystal’, I can see her face beaming. No points for guessing that, women just love crystal jewellery. And specially when there are so many designs and colours to choose from, they can not be blamed if they go mad about crystal jewellery.

The exciting range of crystal jewellery include pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets and now there are anklets and armlets too that have crystal embedded. Not just embedded, crystal make excellent pendants that hang beautifully from necklaces, neck chains, bracelets and soft ankles look so pretty and beautiful when small crystal pendants hang from the anklets.

Even accessories like belts, shoes, purses and bags are also not left untouched by the glory and mystifying beauty of crystal. Blue, red, green, there are options galore to select from. And you can add them or stud them on your accessories to make them look cool and trendy. This will also distinguish you amidst the crowd. And not just women, even men love to experiment with their looks and styles and crystal plays an important part in such endeavours. Crystal is also worn by men. They wear it in rings and some also wear it in a pendant. Sometimes they wear it for fashion and sometimes for faith (crystal is believed to have healing powers).

Besides that, crystal is popular mostly because of its beauty and shine. There are different kinds of crystal available, like amethyst etc. They look very cool and beautiful when worn in jewellery. There are different kinds of crystal that suits different occasions. Also a lot depends upon the design of the jewellery. So the next time you wish to gift your wife a crystal jewellery, make sure you know what suits the occasion.

Crystals for Pets

Monday, November 10th, 2008
Deborah Stewart asked:

Crystal Healing is by no-means a new phenomenon. What is new is the increasing number of people who are drawn to look at alternatives to “western” or “traditional” medicines. If you are one of those people, then I congratulate you. Welcome to the Journey! I hope this guide will introduce you to a few crystals that you can try. I have also included some links to excellent reference books you may want to look at adding to your library.

How do crystals work? I believe in magic, and I think that’s a little bit of what every crystal holds magic! It has been discovered that every organ in the human (and animal) body vibrates to a certain frequency. So too do crystals, vibrate at a frequency. By matching these frequencies we are able to rebalance, or re-tune our bodies. Sometimes the crystals also introduce a new energy into the pet’s energy field, thereby uplifting them, or bringing them the ease from pain or grief they need at that time. For an introduction to the history of crystals see the books recommended on my website.

How can I use crystals to help my pet? The simplest way to use crystals is to purchase a couple of crystals, pop them into a little bag (so that we humans can find them again) and leave them somewhere near where your pet lies. Pets can be very sensitive to the energy of crystals. They will lie close to the crystal when they need the energy. They also NEED to be able to remove themselves from the crystal when they have had enough. I have not found it necessary to tie the crystal to their collar or horse blanket, or anything like that. For a dog or cat, just pop the little crystal bag onto a separate blanket in a quiet corner where they can go to relax. Please do make sure it is somewhere where no other animal or young child will pick it up and swallow it. Some crystals cannot be immersed in water, so it is best kept out of the weather. Another good place to put them is by the feed bowl.

Renown animal healer, Margrit Coates, has written a book titled “Hands on Healing for Pets” and in this she shows some easy ways to connect more with your pet. Margrit talks about the animal’s chakras, horoscopes and their thoughts about ‘death’. Do have a look at this book and consider purchasing it if you can.

Preparing the crystal I always like to “cleanse and charge” my crystals before I use them. You can make this as simple or as ritualistic as you like. Here are a few ways for you to consider which suits you best. 1. Hold the crystal under running water - a river stream, an ocean wave or the kitchen tap. Be sure to mentally and/or verbally bless and gives thanks to the water for the healing energy and love that it brings to your crystal. Visualise or ask that your crystal be empowered with all the traits of “crystal name” and that it bring healing for the highest good of all. 2. Smudge the crystal by holding it above the aromatic smoke from an incense cone or stick. You can smudge using white sage, which is traditional for releasing negative energies, or cedar, sandalwood and frankincense are equally good. As above, bless the incense and visualise your crystal being empowered with all its wonderful traits and ask that it be for the highest good of all. 3. Spray your crystal with a flower essence or aromatherapy spray. Bless and empower the crystal as I have mentioned above.

You can also place your crystal in the moonlight or sunlight for a while to energise it. Some of the paler colour crystals don’t like to be out in the sun too long as they start to lose their colour, so just keep an eye on them won’t you. The water we use to cleanse our crystal needs to be blessed. If you haven’t yet read any of Dr Emoto’s work with water then please take a look as soon as you can. Dr Emoto has taken photographs of water that has been energised by prayer or written words and the amazing crystals that form. A powerful, visual proof that positive thoughts do make a difference.

Choosing a crystal Here is something that everyone can do. Your pet will not be harmed if you have chosen the “wrong” crystal. Choosing a more appropriate crystal is great… and more is not necessarily better in this case. You can use a pendulum to guide your choice. Choose a piece of your own jewellery to use as a pendulum, or a small chain with something light on the end of it. When you are feeling relaxed and in a “good space” ask the pendulum to show you a yes. Thank it, and then ask it to show you a no. This can take a bit of practise. Keep trying until you can find the way it works best for you. When you get clear signals from the pendulum, hold the crystal in the other hand (easy for you to focus on it then) and ask the pendulum if this is the best crystal for your pet at this time. If you don’t have the crystal to hold, you can simply write down the name of the crystal, or focus on a picture of it. I have outlined below some of the crystals that work well with animals and are easy to purchase.

Crystals have many interpretations, and what I have written here is by no means the definitive guide. The retailer you purchase your crystals from may also have some ideas on what you can use. Sometimes I prefer to use the naturally formed crystals, rather than the tumbled ones, but it is personal preference. Himalayan Crystals are also amazing. I once gave one to a friend who put it in their bedroom where the dog slept, leaving it burning all night. Her ailing dog had the best nights sleep when his crystal was on. Indeed they are powerful and effective at ionising the air; mine is rarely turned off.

Swarovski Crystals: Anecdotes and Designer Cufflinks

Saturday, November 8th, 2008
Patrick McMurray asked:

Today, Swarovski Crystals, the choice material of world class jewellery designers. A sense of luxury is extended through sterling silver and enamels creating forms reflecting beautifully, textural influences at every angle. Natural light suddenly becomes part of the experience as it bounces off every facet of Swarovski Crystal.

If you’re a fan of Swarovski Crystal Jewellery here’s a little history? In 1892, Daniel Swarovski registered a patent for his machine that cut crystal on an industrial scale with greater speed and precision than the manual process. This was the start of one of the most sought after crystal production centres in art history. Daniel Swarovski founded his company in the Alps, named for his family, in 1895.

In the late 19th Century, crystal was regularly used to enhance formal evening wear. Crystal pieces were actually sewn into formal jackets and gowns. Swarovski took advantage of this fashion trend and in 1913; he created his own crystals exclusively for the fashion industry.

Always the entrepreneur, Swarovski used the storage of cutting machines and materials during World War I to enhance his business. For the war effort, Swarovski produced grinding and dressing tools that were used to process crystal stones and he marketed them under the name of Tyrolit from 1917 to 1919. Until about 1956, Swarovski would often use the innovations of his original crystal company by developing subsidiary companies which provided products for automotive and roadway reflectors, telescopes, and lenses.

By mid 20th Century, Swarovski returned to the work of jewellery-making and crystal promotion using special treatments to produce colourful effects within crystal. This new found popularity of Swarovski pieces made the firm’s crystal the desired crystal for famous chandeliers that graced such sites as the Metropolitan Opera House, major museums, and the castles owned by European monarchs. By the late 1960s, Swarovski stones were utilized in home design, fashion, and jewellery markets worldwide.

By 1976, Swarovski business expanded from that of a cutting, manufacturing, and jewellery production facility to a business committed to silver crystal as an end product for figurines and collectibles. The first crystal collectible sold by Swarovski was a mouse figurine. The mouse, a best seller at the Innsbruck Olympic Games, enjoyed prominence throughout the world. In the early 1990s, exhibitions featured Swarovski crystal and its crystal technology. In 1995, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary with the production of a prominent Swarovski century swan in silver crystal. In that same year, the firm opened its exhibition centre featuring a history of crystal and the Swarovski Company.

Some of Swarovski notable crystal designers include:

Max Schreck who is responsible for the popular animal line of fine crystal collectibles, Anton Hirzinger whose designs include the famous Swarovski trademark swan and the Centenary Swan, Edith Maier who joined Swarovski in 1990 and designed the Roe Deer Fawn, the Fairy Tales series, and the popular Sweetheart piece, Gabriele Stamey who designed Swarovski popular Columbine figurine, and Adi Stocker who is arguably Swarovski best known designer creating two major Limited Edition pieces for Swarovski crystal.

And the tradition lives on.
