What is the best way to clean lead crystal whose surface has turned milky?

June 14th, 2009 | Posted in crystal   Comments Off
Winger asked:

We probably shouldn’t, but we put our (inexpensive) lead crystal into the dishwasher. Over time a film forms on the surface that makes the glass look slightly milky. You can scratch the milky film, so I know it should be able to be removed. The problem is that I haven’t yet found a good way to really clean it.

Any suggestions on how to remove the film relatively easily, since the crystal are cut pieces with lots of nooks and crannies?

How To Use Crystal Vibrational Healing

June 9th, 2009 | Posted in crystal   Comments Off
Paul A. Birnie asked:

Crystals are a unique part of our life. They are used for many things, both spiritual and physical.

For example, quartz crystals are commonly used in battery operated watches to keep time, silicon crystals are grown to make computer chips.

In this article, I am going to explain how you can use crystals as a healing tool through a technique called crystal vibrational healing.

Crystals are self-aware living vibrations of the Universe. Crystal vibrational healing is a frequency, a wave form of energy sent by someone through a crystal to another participant which causes the participant to go back to an energetic state of well-being.

Many people believe that when an individual needs healing, it is because their body is sick. This is not the case. When it comes to healing, we have the perception that it is the body that receives the healing, when in fact it is the frequency of the disease that receives it.

Now, the frequency of our belief system is what creates our state of ‘beingness’, in sickness and in health. When we heal, is the body that is healed? Is it the mind? Is it the emotions? Is it the disease? The truth is that all these aspects of ourselves are extensions and creations of our belief systems.

The belief system is what holds the frequency, and the true creator of ALL this, everything (with no exception!) is YOU!!! We all create our lives, and the circumstances in it, from these belief systems. The key therefore is to know that we are the sole creator of all this.

This means that by using crystal vibrational healing on ourselves, we can change our thoughts, our emotions and our actions. The idea many of us have is that we have to ‘remove’ negative thoughts and feelings. This is not true! What we REALLY need to do is TRANSFORM the thought by feeding it positive thoughts. For example, feed our anger with peace, feed our hate with love and so on.

Once the thought is transformed, the feeling, action and ultimate experience is altered, to reflect your now new found reality, as opposed to your old indoctrinated belief systems. This is the essence of crystal vibrational healing.

The question I hope you are asking yourselves now is: how do I apply this to my everyday life? Let me share with you one way you can use the crystal vibrational healing technique to change any anger you have in your heart into peace.

You will first need to hold a crystal that feels good for you, in the centre of your heart. Make sure that you do no not use a crystal that has been chosen just for its meaning.

Then, sitting in a quiet place with your eyes closed, allow yourself to feel the emotion of anger … feel it in your body until it is at its strongest.

Then, send a thought and emotion of peace through the crystal to your heart, and see it spread through your body. The frequency of the thought and emotion will be amplified by the crystal that you are holding and it will transform the frequency of anger to its well-being state of peace.

This is a technique you can use for almost any situation you are in and wish to change. Such is the power of this crystal vibrational healing technique.

How My Interest in Crystal Started in a Windmill

June 7th, 2009 | Posted in crystal   Comments Off
Lowry Mell asked:

My interest in crystal was initiated by two powerhouses - two mothers-in-law. It all started when I went to England to marry my first wife. How fortunate I was to gain a wonderful and caring mother-in-law in the process. Peggy was a wonderful, gracious woman from England’s upper social level. She spoke the Queen’s English and insisted when you do certain things it must be done "properly”. That was her go-to phrase.

Peggy lived in a very old windmill that she had converted. The interior walls of the first level were lined with teak board paneling. The upper two levels were finished in plaster. The windmill was beautifully decorated with two hundred-plus year old antique furniture from France and England. Cabinets and shelves were filled with crystal, china, silver tableware and numerous small collectibles. She was an avid collector of antique furniture, plates, crystal glassware and crystal figurines.

In a kind, motherly way, she explained the importance of bringing beautiful things of value into the home and that it could be done inexpensively once you knew the true value of something. In ten days, Peggy instructed me in the ins and outs of collecting and bargain hunting with the emphasis on quality and workmanship.

I was a willing student. I must admit I was stunned by the artistic style and craftsmanship of her collector plates and crystal. I could see how all these beautiful items she loved made her feel. Her collectibles were a treasure to her because she enjoyed them so much.

She was fond of saying that “Something isn’t valuable unless it has value for you.” That was her buying philosophy and one of many that she instilled in me.

Her collection and tutelage is what sparked my interest in crystal and china. Peggy would come to America every couple of years and we all went shopping in the second-hand stores picking up odd pieces here and there. She could really find the bargains.

On one visit, she joined in the bedtime story routine with my daughter. She noticed the figurine my daughter held depicting an animal in the story. Gran was curious so I explained that the story was more enjoyable for her granddaughter when she held the figurine. My daughter had a great deal of fun putting the figurine through actions of the characters in the story or fairy tale. I told her I couldn’t find any other figurines for other stories and fairy tales I wanted to read. She said she would get them for me in England. I’d send her the name of a story or fairy tale and Gran would send a figurine

After a couple of years of enjoyable bedtime stories, my daughter had an interesting collection of figurines and my interest in crystal was expanding from glassware to figurines of all types, especially crystal animals

Peggy was a grand lady. But what she taught me has stayed with me these past forty years. After passing on, her windmill home was declared a historical treasure by England’s Historical Society and open to the public for short periods of time. I will always remember her impressive collections and the instructions she kindly gave to me.

I was a bachelor for a quite a few years and highly focused on my career working in corporate America and traveling extensively as a Management and Business Training Consultant.. Unfortunately, I got away from collecting for awhile because I was so busy.

Somewhere in all that malaise I met a wonderful woman who captured my heart. I was hired to write a book and spent six weeks in Yugoslavia doing research. Being away from her made me realize that this lovely lady was to be my life’s partner. We married and in the deal I had another charming and endearing mother-in-law. How lucky can a guy get?

My new mother-in-law, Marge, took us under her guidance and patiently encouraged us to add crystal into our home décor. We took many shopping trips together to outlet malls and craft shows picking up crystal vases, serving plates and other crystal items that would be functional and beautiful additions to our home

Like Peggy, Marge stressed the importance of quality and the confidence in buying brand names like Waterford, Lenox, Makasa and Swarovski. I know what I like, but as a man I’m not up to speed on all those home décor touches a home needs. I was totally reliant on my wife’s and mother’s-in-law feminine prowess to choose the appropriate items.

They chose well and I have always been pleased with their purchases. Marge was a great guide along the way.

My wife and I now have a nice collection of china porcelain, crystal stemware and glassware and crystal figurines. Of all our collectibles the ones that bring me the greatest pleasure are the crystal animals and crystal figurines. Perhaps it is because of those fond memories of my daughter playing with those figurines as I read the bedtime fairy tales to her.

Along the forty year path of collecting, I have managed to acquire a few crystal figurines that are quite old and no longer made. I don’t care about their resale value. I care about the artistic and craftsmanship of the pieces. Gran would be proud and Marge is pleased.

How to Use a Crystal Ball

June 3rd, 2009 | Posted in crystal   Comments Off
Joseph Barresi asked:

Step 1. Preparation

Most people find crystal ball gazing is easiest in a quiet, dimly lit room. Many people like to have candles burning. For some the reflections of the flames help to summon images - others find them a distraction. Burning incence is common and some people like to have soothing music playing gently in the background. The important thing to remember is that you are creating an atmosphere.

The important key when doing crystal ball gazing is that you must be relaxed and your mind must be clear. It is always best to perform a cleansing ritual followed by a protection ritual, and THEN begin your crystal ball work. Normally a cleansing ritual would be performed on night one. The next night you would perform a protection ritual on yourself and within the room you intend on performing the crystal ball gazing. On the third night you can then be well prepared to use your crystal ball. Even though these rituals are not necessity, it is always wise to do them for maximum safety and best results.

When performing any form of scrying or divination you are summoning forth forces from the spirit realm. Normally these forces are closed off from this plane we live in unless otherwise disturbed such as through specific rituals such as crystal ball gazing and scrying. When you perform divination these forces can either aid you in bringing forth images of the future or other events, or attack you.

Evil spirits and negative influences can use your crystal ball, scrying mirror, ouija board, or pendulum a link for them to step through into this world. They can also use it as a means to drain energy from you as well. This is why it is always best to ensure proper cleansing and protection is prepared before hand.

Step 2. The Crystal Ball Gazing Method

Place the crystal ball on a table in front of you. Many crystal balls you can buy come with their own stand. If you don’t have a crystal ball stand you might like to use a small cushion or a silk handkerchief purchased and reserved specially for this purpose.

*Tip*

To amplify your crystal ball gazing, you can use a gemstone sphere as a compliment to the crystal ball. Simply having a gemstone sphere resting next the crystal ball can augment your diving two fold.

Sit down and relax. Lay your hands gently on the ball for a minute or two in order to energise it and strengthen your psychic rapport. Whilst holding the crystal ball, think about the purpose of this scrying session. If appropriate try to visualise the subject of your question. Some people like to ask the question out loud, others prefer to internalise it.

Now, remove your hands from the crystal. Look into the crystal, stare deeply. Allow your eyes to relax and become slightly unfocused. After a little while you should see a mist or smoke forming in the crystal. Let this mist grow and fill the ball, then visualise it gradually clearing to reveal images within the crystal.

The images you see might not be what you expected. That’s OK, don’t fight them. Your subconscious mind knows what information you need. Many people find that when they first begin to use a crystal ball, the images have nothing to do with what they focus on. This is because your mind is not yet adjusted at being able to grasp and focus on the energies being past from your subconscious into the crystal ball itself. Think of the mental energies going from your mind to the crystal ball as a funnel. The base or “tip” of the funnel is your subconscious energies and that energy is being directed upwards towards your conscious mind which is the mid point of the funnel. The conscious part of the mind that receives the subconscious energy then “spills” it into the crystal ball to form those images from the subconscious, which would be the mouth of the funnel.

Since divination uses both the subsconscious and conscious part of the mind at the same time it can be rather difficult to concentrate on both at once. Your subconscious is where the energy is stemming from. It passes it upwards to your conscious which is needed to act on that energy into the crystal ball. Without the conscious mind you would be in more of a deep meditated state and your eyes would not be able to consciously focus or input the images within the crystal ball.

As noted, it is perfectly ok that the first couple times you divine with a crystal ball the images are not related to what it is you want. The fact you are able to see ANYTHING in the crystal ball is showing progress. The more you work with the crystal ball, the better you will get at being able to see exactly what it is you want to see by manipulating your subconscious energies to your conscious energies, and then to the crystal ball. Either way, just let the images flow, changing and taking you wherever they choose to go. Don’t try to rationalise now, time for that later.

Step 3. Closing The Crystal Ball Session

Let the images slowly fade back into the crystal ball. Don’t just stop the session suddenly, instead reverse the process you used at the beginning. Visualise the mists coming back and covering the images, then receding to return the ball to its natural state.

Thank your crystal ball and put it away carefully wrapped within a dark cloth is best as dark cloth keeps the energies of the ball contained within it and prevents it from leaking out.

It is also always best to ensure you cleanse your crystal ball. A good, fast, and simple way of doing this is to simply light a sage smudge stick and or sage incense and move the ball around the smoke before you place it back for storage. Another quick and easy way to cleanse your crystal ball would be to give it a dip in salt water for roughly one minute. You do not want to soak it too long in salt as it can damage and ruin the crystal ball.

If you would like to view different crystal balls or if you would like to purchase one you can find them here:
